And that «this decision came under the provisions of Article 255 of the Penal Code, 38 C, D of the Press and Publication Law and Article 39 of the same law, which allows the Public Prosecution to prohibit publication in everything related to any stage of the investigation of any case or crime that occurs. The Royal Hashemite Court announced, yesterday evening, Monday, new developments in the crisis of the former Crown Prince, Prince Hamzah bin Al-Hussein, who is prevented from leaving his home on military orders after he was accused of conspiring with foreign parties.
The Court said in a statement that “In light of His Majesty King Abdullah II’s decision to deal with the issue of His Highness Prince Hamzah within the framework of the Hashemite family, His Majesty entrusted this path to his uncle, His Highness Prince Al-Hassan, who in turn communicated with Prince Hamzah, and Prince Hamzah confirmed that he adheres to the approach of the Hashemite family. On Saturday evening, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the Jordanian Army, Major General Yusef Al-Huneiti, confirmed in a statement: “The allegations published about the arrest of the former crown prince are untrue, but he made it clear that he was asked to stop the movements and activities used to target Jordan’s security and stability,” indicating that This came “within the framework of comprehensive joint investigations carried out by the security services, which led to the arrest of several persons.”
The Washington Post reported, on Saturday, that an unnamed US intelligence official said that the Jordanian authorities had placed Prince Hamzah bin Al-Hussein under house arrest and arrested about 20 Jordanian officials as part of an investigation into a plot to overthrow the king. It quoted a senior intelligence official as saying that “the move came after the discovery of what the royal court described as a complex, long-term conspiracy.”
