The United States announced that it is discussing with “allies and partners” the option of a collective boycott of the 2022 Winter Olympics in China.
“We undoubtedly wish to discuss that. We of course understand that taking a coordinated approach will respond to our interests, but the interests of our allies and partners,” said US State Department spokesman Ned Price, in response to a question about the possibility of studying a joint boycott of the Olympic Games in China.
“This is one of the issues on the agenda, both now and in the future,” added Price.
From February 4 to 20, 2022, the Chinese capital, Beijing, will host the 24th Winter Olympics, at a time when relations between China and the United States are experiencing great tension over the background of many issues.
