Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, announced the inclusion of examinations for those who intend to marry women within the initiative of the President of the Republic to take care of the health of the mother and the fetus, and to issue electronic certificates, confirming that they are linked to the integrated complex for the issuance of secure and smart documents, which was inaugurated by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi today.
This came during a meeting held by the Minister of Health and Population today, Wednesday, through the “call conference” technology with Dr. Mohamed Hassani, Assistant Minister of Health for Public Health Initiatives, Dr. Nevin Al-Nahhas, Head of the Central Department for Technical Support and Director of the Minister’s Technical Office, and Engineer Ayesam Salah, Adviser to the Minister Health Information Technology, the Ministry’s undersecretaries, and those responsible for the implementation of the two initiatives of the President of the Republic “for early detection and treatment of hearing impairment and loss for newborns”, and “Care for the health of the mother and the fetus.”
Dr. Khaled Mujahid, Assistant Minister of Health and Population for Information and Awareness and the official spokesperson for the ministry, stated that the minister indicated during the meeting to cooperate with the Ministry of Justice to issue electronic certificates for the examinations of those who are about to get married, noting that this electronic system is a continuation of the governance system for marriage certificates.
Mujahid pointed out that the minister confirmed that women will continue to be examined after marriage to monitor their health status, as part of the President’s initiative to take care of the health of the mother and the fetus, which aims to early detection of infection with “B” virus, HIV and syphilis for pregnant women, with the aim of reducing women’s infection with these diseases and not Its transmission to the fetus, explaining that the initiative includes monitoring the condition of the mother and the newborn for a period of 42 days after the end of pregnancy to discover risk factors for all the mother or newborn, and to take appropriate measures in addition to dispensing the necessary micronutrients during the postpartum period, explaining that about 736 thousand women were examined through The initiative, since its inception.
Mujahid added that the minister confirmed the intensification of training programs for service providers with the President’s initiative to take care of the health of the mother and the fetus, to provide all means of medical and psychological support for women who are confirmed to be infected during examinations of those who are about to get married, and to raise health awareness for them, stressing on maintaining the confidentiality of their information.
Mujahid pointed out that during the meeting, the minister followed the progress of work on the President’s initiative for early detection and treatment of weakness and hearing loss for newborns, directed to increase the number of medical devices used in the initiative to examine children in all health units at the level of the governorates of the Republic, noting that about 1.5 million children were examined. Since the launch of the initiative in September 2019.
Mujahid added that the minister emphasized the intensification of training courses for service providers in all presidential health initiatives under the slogan “100 million health”, within the framework of continuing to provide the best medical service to citizens, stressing that the database of initiatives is linked to the Integrated Complex for the issuance of secure and smart documents, in A framework to support the country’s strategy for automation and digital transformation.
