Dr. Manal Ezz El-Din, a researcher at the Institute of Food Sciences, commented on the intention of some to eat fesikh and herring at breakfast next Monday, which coincides with the advent of Sham El-Nessim Eid, despite the Ramadan atmosphere.

“Ezz El-Din”, during its hosting of the “Good Morning Egypt” program broadcast on the “Al-Oula” satellite channel, revealed the danger of eating salted fish in Ramadan, explaining that the thirst resulting from fesikh or herring cannot be controlled during the period between breakfast and the pre-dawn meal because the amount of salt These meals contain very large.

She added: “Large quantities of salts pose health problems to the kidneys, especially for patients with high blood pressure,” adding, “If someone decides that he is eating the meal regardless of the damage, then it must be purchased from a reliable place while avoiding what is promoted under the name of sweet fesikh. .

She continued: “Some stores are marketing sweet fesikh, considering that it contains a small percentage of salt and thus causes health problems, but it is considered a means of fraud.” She pointed out that this type is produced within a very short period by unscrupulous merchants, and therefore does not take Long enough and cause health problems.

The nutrition expert indicated that there is what is known as a minimum amount of salt in fish, so that salt is at least 8%, otherwise it is unhealthy and may cause poisoning.

She advised those coming to eat the fesikh and herring meal in Ramadan to drink a large amount of water in addition to drinking healthy drinks such as hibiscus and dum, while avoiding completely licorice drink because it causes high blood pressure and soft drinks that cause indigestion.
