The investigations of the Public Prosecution, which was published by Al-Masry Al-Youm at the time, revealed that 3 surveillance cameras installed above the wall of the victim’s villa managed to take pictures of only two of the perpetrators, and were unable to photograph the rest of the accused, whose number ranged between 3 and 4 others.
After viewing the videos, the prosecution ordered to send them to the Department of Documentation and Information Collection at the Ministry of Interior to unpack their contents.
The videos showed two of the shooters, who were near the home of “Jumah”, and were standing with two automatic weapons, from which they fired shots, after the victim arrived near the gate of the mosque, in conjunction with the shooting of 4 others from both sides of the mosque, in order to set the Mufti with “pliers”. They carry out the assassination process tightly.
Investigations reported that the perpetrators divided themselves into two groups, the first: they were standing near the gate of the mosque, and the second: they took over the operation to secure the escape of the rest of their colleagues, and took over the task of firing shots in the air to terrorize the mosque visitors and neighbors, so that all the criminals could ride in a car that looked like a taxi, its color was white, Without metal plates.
“Jumah”, during the investigations, said that he was heading to prayer and as soon as he entered the outer gate of the mosque, he heard heavy gunfire, and his guards were able to enter the mosque, and they closed the doors on him, and he decided to deliver the sermon after the permission of the imam of the mosque.
He added that he later learned from his three guards that they had exchanged fire with the perpetrators, who were masked and dressed in black clothes. He accused the terrorist groups of masterminding an assassination attempt, and he did not name a specific group or identify people, but he said, “He has received death threats since 2011, and it has multiplied. Pace it after 2013 ».
The prosecutor listened to the statements of the personal guard of “Jumah” who was wounded by shrapnel in the thigh, as a result of the exchange of fire with the perpetrators, and said that he saw the perpetrators firing shots and dealt with them with the exchange of bullets and a colleague, and he asked the former Mufti to enter the mosque, and continued: “We all muddy the ground. And with us, the Honorable Mufti, the people and the worshipers helped us in that, until we entered the mosque, closed the doors, and after minutes of equipment we explored the situation, and the perpetrators fled.
One of the eyewitnesses stated that he saw the driver of the “taxi” in which a person was sitting inside, apparently waiting for the accused, and that was half an hour before he heard the gunfire, which means that the perpetrators were watching “Friday” and waited for him to leave his house to arrive. To the mosque, and the witness said that the car did not carry any metal plates, and he estimated the parking distance of the car to 50 meters from the mosque, next to a property under construction, and the person sitting inside the car through the openings of the property could see the mosque-goers.
The prosecution, which was transferred after the Friday prayer to the scene of the accident, kept 76 blank spaces for automatic bullets, which were sent to the forensic experts to examine them to indicate the type of weapons used in the shooting, which varied according to the prosecution’s observation between automatic shells and teapots, and also ordered that those blanks be matched with the guards’ weapon, to exclude The bullets they use are from the shells that have been found, and to determine the quality of the perpetrators’ weapons.
A judicial source stated that the “Jumaa” guards fired 4 bullets from their personal weapon, which turned out to be 9 mm “drums”.
