The Moroccan Ministry of Health announced that the epidemiological monitoring system, the contact management system and the foci, in the city of Casablanca, recorded two confirmed cases of the Indian strain of the emerging corona virus, as part of the national strategy for vigilance and response to the Covid-19 epidemic, indicating that the scientific community suggests that this strain is rapidly spreading.
The ministry stated, in a press release on Monday, that the first case was registered with an expatriate and the second was with contacts of a foreign nationality residing in Morocco, as infection with the mutated strain was confirmed at the National Center for Scientific and Technical Research in Rabat, a member of the National Coalition for Genomic Monitoring Laboratories.
The Ministry confirmed that the two cases and all their contacts were taken care of in accordance with the international and national protocols in force, with the strengthening of health isolation measures commensurate with the potential risks of the spread of this strain.
The Ministry stressed that it will continue to communicate with public opinion and inform it of all developments, and it called on citizens to continue to adhere to the precautionary rules, procedures and preventive measures.
