A source from KAF said to FilGoal.com: “The normal deadline for submitting the names of clubs participating in continental tournaments is June 30th. An exception may occur for some countries, depending on their status, by putting the name of the country in the lottery pending the determination of the party that will represent them.”
And he completed “the registration periods the same as last year, 10, 20 and 30 July.”
For his part, Ahmed Mujahid, head of the tripartite committee managing the Football Association, explained the fact that the league was canceled.
Mujahid said in a brief statement to FilGoal.com: “The idea of canceling the league?
“We are holding a session today with all clubs to discuss all developments, as well as the restriction and the possibility of holding matches while the team is participating in the Olympics,” he added.
He concluded, “We will present these matters to the clubs and announce the decisions, respectively.”
The Egyptian League reached the 20th round of the competition, which begins today with a confrontation between the National Bank and Military Production.
Zamalek tops the standings with 41 points from 19 games, followed by Al-Ahly with 37 points from 17 games.
Last season, the Egyptian Federation announced the participation of Al-Ahly, Zamalek, Pyramids and Arab Contractors, respectively, in the continental championships for the current season.
