FilGoal | News | Mujahid: Some clubs have refused to play without the Olympic team players … and in the event that everyone cooperates, we will end the league early.

Ahmed Mujahid, head of the temporary committee to manage the affairs of the Football Association, revealed the scenes of the federation’s meeting with the Egyptian League clubs.

Mujahid said on Radio On Sport: “The FIFA meeting with 15 clubs was attended by Al-Ahly, Zamalek and Al-Mahalla.”

And he continued, “Some clubs have reservations about playing without the Olympic team players, led by Pyramids and Al-Ittihad of Alexandria, and the clubs of Enppi, Wadi Degla and Ceramica have expressed a slight reservation.”

He added, “Al-Masry showed flexibility in playing without the players of the Olympic team, despite the presence of Karim Al-Iraqi in his ranks.”

And he continued, “If the international agenda changes for the month of June, we will consult with Hossam El-Badry and Shawky Gharib to take advantage of a period of one week to hold some postponed matches in the Egyptian League and Cup tournaments.

“We are trying to buy time to hold four matches during the Olympics and move the agenda for September to be held in August,” he continued.

He pointed out, “If the Olympic team does not complete its campaign in the Olympics, we will have 8 days in August, and the same is the case for clubs participating in the African championships, and this is not something we wish, of course.”

“In all cases, and in the case of playing during the Olympics, we will save 25 days or a month, which is what we hope for the entire season of the Egyptian League, Cup and Super Cup to end before the start of the World Cup qualifiers in September,” he said.

He explained, “In the current circumstances, although not all clubs cooperate, the season will end at the end of August or early September.”

The future of the league

Regarding the rumors of canceling the league, he said: The Football Association had no idea of canceling the league, and we have prior knowledge that the clubs participating in the African Championships are required to determine their lists on June 30th.

He stressed, “We also know the African rules of registration.”

“We are also in the process of inquiring from the International Football Association,” he said, “about extending the exception to the rules for registering players in the African club championships, as happened last season.”

He concluded his remarks, “The World Cup qualifiers belong to the International Federation, and the African Union emergency office has already taken a decision to postpone, but we are awaiting the speech and the official decision from FIFA.”
