Al-Ahly tied with El-Gouna in the Al-Ahly WE stadium, positively, with a goal to the same in a postponed match from the 16th round of the Egyptian League.
Musimani said at the press conference that followed the match, saying: “We lost two new points. Among the matches we played recently, this match was our lowest performance and we did not play with the intensity required for a match like that.”
He continued, “The first half was like training. We possessed the ball. We did not try to score. We were supposed to go forward and try to score goals, and in the second half we tried, the first half we had no intensity in performance.”
And the South African coach added, “In front of Zamalek, we did not give them a chance to play today. We gave El Gouna a chance to play.”
And about fatigue, the coach said Al-Ahly: “I cannot talk about fatigue because we made substitutions. 4 new players participated in the match.”
He added, “But with the participation of the weary players, the intensity of our performance increased.”
Musimani stressed, “I do not say excuses, the match today was like training, it was not like a match, we tied and we were punished, and Mohamed El-Shenawi did not see the ball even while it was recorded.”
Regarding his accusation of retreating to the defense, Musimani became angry and said: “I have involved Salah Mohsen and Afsha. Are these defensive substitutions? The only defensive substitution was Mohamed Hani.”
He justified, “We are waiting for a meeting against Zamalek and the African Champions League matches, and Hani is returning from an injury and I want to give him the sensitivity of the matches again.”
And when asked about resting Afsha and Al Sulayyah, he replied, “Some will ask why I rested that or that player, but I comforted them because they feel very tired and have given the opportunity to other players such as Kahraba and Nasser Maher.”
Musimani concluded his speech, “Any technical failure I bear. It was supposed to end the match in the first half, but we did not do it.”
With that result, Al-Ahly’s score reached 37 points, ranking second in the league table, three points behind leaders Zamalek, and the Red Team has two matches less than its rival.
