Empoli returned to Serie A after settling the second division lead two rounds before the end of the season.
Empoli defeated Cosenza by a four-way match at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in the 36th round, and confirmed winning the Italian second division title for the third time in its history.
The team scored 70 points, 7 points behind its closest competitors, two rounds before the end of the season.
The club, which celebrates the centenary, qualified thanks to the goals of Leonardo Mancuso in the 31st minute, the team’s top scorer and the owner of the 20 goals, which is ranked as the top scorer.
La Mantilla scored a double in the 39th and 61st minutes, and Nadim Bajrami, the Swiss, finished the score with the fourth goal in the 64th minute.
The team, nicknamed “The Azra”, is led by technical director Alessio Dionici (41 years), who had previously only led Vicenza in the Italian second division before and the rest of his career was between the third and fourth classes.
Empoli returned to the Italian league for the seventh time in its history, winning the second division title on 3 occasions 2004-05, 2017-18 and 2020-2021.
He also qualified in the years 1985-1986, 1996-97, 2001-2002 and 2013-14.
Next season will be the fourteenth of the Tuscany region, and on a date with the Florence derby and Fiorentina.
In the second division clash, Monza, owned by Silvo Berlusconi, the former owner of Milan, defeated Lecce with a free goal and ignited the second-card struggle.
Salrentina became second with 63 points after winning over Pordenone with two goals to one, while Lecce remained third with 61 points over Monza fourth.
The leaders and runners-up qualify directly to the Italian League, while the third to eighth place winners compete for the last card through an attachment to the knockout system.
In the first division, Crotone fell quickly after one season, while Parmas campaign ended after losing Monday to Turin, 1-0.
