Dr. Mohamed Abdel Fattah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Preventive Affairs, stated that Egypt is witnessing an increase in the number of new infections with the Coronavirus recently.
In statements to him, Abdel Fattah said that this is a dangerous indicator, denouncing the complacency of citizens in adhering to the implementation of the precautionary measures.
He added that the symptoms of the third wave are similar to the first and second waves, as respiratory symptoms are the clearest, then the digestive system, with some cases suffering from a rash, which is similar to the symptoms of the first and second waves.
He continued: The governorates with the highest incidence are Cairo, Menoufia, Aswan, Sohag, Qena and the Red Sea.
He stressed that the increase in numbers is being dealt with in these governorates.
Regarding the entry of the Indian strain into Egypt, he said: The modified Indian strain extended to 17 countries, but until now we have not monitored its entry into Egypt, and there are previous decisions to prevent anyone from entering Egypt without the presence of a BCR analysis.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health warned: We are living in the most dangerous 10 days at the present time, especially the last days of Ramadan, and people have to pay attention.
