India opened the vaccination program for people between the ages of 18 and 45 from May 1 (although vaccines are not readily available across the country), to help more people find the closest vaccination center, and the government has partnered with WhatsApp and created a tool. Simple to function according to TheNextWeb.
Last year, the company launched a WhatsApp robot with MyGov – a digital portal for information about government services – to post more details about the coronavirus pandemic.
Now it uses the same robot to include information about vaccines and centers.
Here’s how to use it:
Send “Hi” to a dedicated service number on WhatsApp, or use this link to launch the chatbot.
Once the robot responds with the list, send 1 – to find information about COVID vaccination centers and real information about vaccines.
Submit 1 again to find position details.
Type in the six-digit PIN for your area.
You will receive a response from the closest centers to you, along with the available openings and the maximum age applicable to that position.
Once you find information about a vaccination center, you will have to log into the government-run CoWin website to book your place to get a shot.
In the event that you are not using WhatsApp, the parent company Facebook is also launching a tool to find a center in your area soon.
Alternatively, you can use this special tool to find an open hatch for people in the age group 18-45.
