The Board of Directors of Al-Ahly Club announced the departure of Ashraf Tawfik, the coach of the first team of men’s basketball at the Red Castle, after losing the Egyptian Cup title at the hands of Al-Ittihad of Alexandria last week.
Tawfiq submitted his resignation after Al-Ahly lost the final match of the Egypt Cup last Thursday, before Al-Ahly’s board of directors headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib announced approval of it today, Saturday.
“The club’s board of directors agreed to accept the resignation of Ashraf Tawfiq, the coach of the first basketball team and his auxiliary apparatus,” an official statement from Al-Ahly said.
Al-Ahly added in his statement: “The Council thanked Ashraf Tawfiq and his auxiliary apparatus for the last period, which he spent in the position of responsibility, and exerted great effort in it, trying to achieve the best results.”
The Board of Directors also assigned Raouf Abdel Qader, Director General of the Sports Activity Department at Al-Ahly Club, to nominate the alternative and present it to the Board of Directors within the next 48 hours.
It is reported that the basketball team of Al-Ahly club is preparing to face Al-Ittihad of Alexandria in 5 matches (Best of Five) in the semi-finals of the league championship.
