Sudanese Minister of Irrigation, Yasser Abbas, said that the Renaissance Dam crisis needs political will to reach a solution to the existing disputes.
He added, in his interview with “Al-Ghad” channel, that exchanging data with Ethiopia about the dam is a right for Sudan and not a grant from Ethiopia.
Abbas stressed his country’s keenness to negotiate with all parties to reach solutions agreed upon by everyone, away from the negotiation policy for the sake of negotiations only.
The Sudanese Minister of Irrigation stressed that the call to return to the Renaissance Dam negotiations with the same previous approach is a purchase of time, explaining that Sudan is determined to negotiate as the only way to end this problem and negotiate results or otherwise.
He explained that the Renaissance Dam poses a threat to half of the population of Sudan, noting that the file needs political will to reach an agreement.
He added: Ethiopia wants guidelines, not an agreement, saying: The international community and the Ethiopians know the impact of this dam.
The Sudanese Minister of Irrigation also confirmed that any absence of information impedes the operation of the Rosaries Dam, explaining that when Ethiopia implemented the first filling, the water level decreased.
