Karim Shehata, son of the former coach of the Egyptian national team, Hassan Shehata, revealed the truth about the news circulating recently about the death of his father, confirming that they are not true and that he is in good health.

“My father is fine and the news of his death is not true,” Karim said, according to the website of the “Al-Masry Al-Youm” newspaper, expressing his astonishment at these ridiculous rumors.

It is noteworthy that Hassan Shehata is one of the most prominent players and coaches in the history of Egyptian football, as he won the league title when he was a player for Zamalek, and the Egypt Cup 3 times.

He won the best player award in Egypt in 1976, in addition to being awarded the First Class Sports Medal in 1980, and the fans called him “the teacher” because of his skill in scoring goals.

Shehata gained great fame as a coach with the Egyptian national team between 2004 and 2011, when he led the Pharaohs to 3 consecutive African Nations Cup titles.
