Real Madrid beat Granada 4-1 in the match that was held today, Thursday, in the 36th round of the Spanish League, at the Nuevo Los Carmenes stadium.
Real Madrid raised its score to 78 points in second place in the ranking table, surpassing Barcelona, and chasing leaders Atletico Madrid by two points before two rounds of the competition.
On the other side, Granada, with 45 points, settled in tenth place.
The Real Madrid squad consisted of: Thibaut Courtois; Marvin, Eder Militao, Nacho Fernandez, Miguel Gutierrez; Luka Modric, Casemiro, Federico Valverde; Rodrigo, Vinicius Jr., Karim Benzema.
Veteran Croatian star Luka Modric opened the scoring for Real in the 17th minute, before Rodrigo added the second goal in the second minute of calculated time instead of lost for the first half.
Granada narrowed the difference, after Jorge Molina scored the only goal of the landlords in the 71st minute, but Real Madrid quickly rose again, after Alvaro Odriozola and Karim Benzema scored the third and fourth goals in the 75th and 76th minutes, respectively.
Real Madrid have two matches left, with host Athletic Bilbao and guest Villarreal in the next two stages, while Atletico will face guest Osasuna and host Valladolid.
The royal team is waiting for Atletico to draw at least one of its remaining two matches, with the white team winning its two matches, in order to overtake Atletico by a difference in direct confrontations, which are referred to if the two teams are equal in the balance of points.
