European Football Association (UEFA) announced on Wednesday that veteran Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been fined 50,000 euros ($ 61,000) for possession of a financial stake in a betting company, in violation of confederation rules.

The 39-year-old AC Milan striker was ordered to give up his stake in the Malta-based company, according to the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

Uefa has also decided to fine Milan 25,000 euros for its player breaking regulations.

It is noteworthy that Ibrahimovic returned to the Swedish national team after retiring from international football in 2016, but was excluded from the European Nations Cup (Euro 2020) due to injury.
