Syed Abdel Hafeez, Al-Ahly’s football director, confirmed that Mahmoud Metwally, the team’s player, was injured by a slight strain in the back muscle.
Metwally participated in 40 minutes of Al-Ahly’s last friendly match against Egypt for Insurance at Mokhtar Al-Tach Stadium, after a long absence with a cruciate ligament injury.
Motwali left the match after complaining of a hamstring injury.
Abdel Hafeez said in Laila Kouras statements, “The x-rays proved that Mahmoud Metwally’s injury was a slight strain in the posterior muscle.”
South African Pitso Mosimane gave the team a 6-day rest, before gathering again to prepare for the Tunisian Esperance matches on June 19 and 25 in the African Champions League semi-finals.
