Keegan Dolly, the French player from Montpellier, refused to return to the South African league again, in light of reports linking him to a return to the black continent, either through Sun Downs or Al-Ahly.
The South African Sowetan network quoted statements from a source close to Dolly, in which he ruled out the latter’s return to Sun Downs, with a desire to continue his career in Europe, despite leaving Montpellier.
“Dolly has just welcomed his first child in France and this could play a big role in his desire to stay in Europe rather than bring his young family back to South Africa,” the source told Sowetan Network.
“In terms of starting a family and getting married, he wants to be in a place where he feels his football is going to be good, which is good for him financially and it’s a nice place to raise your family.”
And the same source continued, “He is completely open-minded about his next step… But in a nutshell: It is highly unlikely that Dolly will return to South Africa.”
For his part, Paul Mitchell, the player’s agent, said: “Dolly is still in France for now. He has had a baby. We have been actively looking for new opportunities in the past few months. We have three, four or five offers to look at. But I can’t Confirm any specific part of the world at the moment.”
Dolly’s contract with Montpellier expires next summer, while the club’s president confirmed that his contract has not been renewed, so that the right and left wing can sign for any club for free at the present time, to join him early next season.
Dolly’s stats with Montpellier in all tournaments:
