Ahmed Hassan, the former player of the Egyptian national team, Al-Ahly and Zamalek, was keen to congratulate the Kuwaiti Badr Al-Mutawa with the title of Dean of the World Players.
The Kuwaiti player was in the list of his country’s main team to face Bahrain in the Arab Cup qualifiers to play the 185th match and become the dean of world players, overtaking Ahmed Hassan, the former Egyptian player.
Through his official account on Twitter, Hassan wrote: “I am proud of the years I spent as dean of the world’s players.”
He added: “Here is the flag, as it was transferred to my person, from the two great stars Hossam Hassan and Muhammad Al-Deayea, to the Kuwaiti Arab star Bader Al-Mutawa, after reaching the number of 185 international matches. All my congratulations to him with my best wishes for continued giving and progress.”
Ahmed Hassan has maintained the title of Dean of World Players for several years, as he wore the Egyptian national team shirt for nearly 15 years and won the African Cup of Nations four times, to then announce his retirement from football and the number remains registered in his name until Al-Mutawa managed to break the number in 2022.
Badr Al-Mutawa started participating with the Kuwait national team in September 2003 and during the 18 years he has played 184 matches (before facing Bahrain) and scored 56 goals during his career with the national team.
