Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi expressed his absolute confidence in the continuation of Kylian Mbappe within his club, and also refused to talk about Lionel Messi and the possibility of his arrival in the French capital.
Mbappe’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of next season, and so far he has not reached an agreement on the renewal, amid exceptional interest from Real Madrid in particular to sign him.
Despite the delay in renewing the contract and the presence of some reports that Mbappe is considering leaving the Princes Park stadium, Al-Khelaifi came out again to the media, rejecting the idea and stressing the continuation of the player.
In an interview with the French newspaper L’Equipe, Al-Khelaifi said, “Killian will remain in Paris and we will never sell him, and we will not let him go free.”
He added, “Negotiations progress? I don’t give any details to the media about these matters. All I can say is that things are progressing well and I hope we find common ground soon.”
He continued, “Paris is Mbappe’s homeland and he has a mission besides being a football player, which is to promote the French league and its capital.”
“I’m 100% sure he has everything he needs to renew with us here, where is he going? What clubs in terms of ambition and project can compete with PSG today?”
As for Lionel Messi and the possibility of him reaching Barcelona, he said, “I told you, I am not talking about the current files. I told the Barcelona president that Messi is at the end of his contract and everyone has the right to negotiate.”
“What I can tell you, and you can believe me, is that all the great players want to come to PSG.”
“I’m not saying that to answer you about Messi, the truth is we can’t bring all the great stars here, especially since we already have great players too, Messi remains Messi and he’s a great player.”
Regarding coach Mauricio Pochettino and his desire to leave, Al-Khelaifi replied, “I met him twice after the end of the season and he never told me that he wanted to leave.”
“He didn’t have the attitude that he wanted to leave, quite the opposite, he was involved in topics about the club, the structure, the organization and what he needs for next season, and he talks almost every day with Leonardo about the transfer window.”
He concluded, speaking of Neymar, “Barcelona has always wanted Neymar back, this is not a secret, but what is his position? He never wanted to leave, he did not adapt fully in France at the time (2019) only, but call him now and he will tell you how satisfied he is.”
It is worth noting that Neymar has renewed his contract with Paris Saint-Germain until the summer of 2025, ending all rumors about the possibility of him returning to Barcelona again.
