The US national team won the first edition of the CONCACAF Nations League after beating its Mexican counterpart 3/2 on Sunday evening (Monday morning GMT) in the final match of the tournament.
Honduras won the third place after defeating Costa Rica 5-4 on penalties, after the two teams tied 2-2 in the match to determine the third and fourth places.
At the Broncos at Mile High in Denver, USA, Jose Corona opened the scoring for the Mexican team one minute after the start of the match, then the US team tied with a goal by Giovanni Reina in the 27th minute.
In the second half, Diego Lines added the second goal for the Mexican team in the 79th minute, then the US team tied with a goal scored by Weston McKinney in the 82nd minute, and the confrontation continued for overtime, which saw the US team score 3/2 in the 114th minute, scored by Christian Pulisic of Chelsea.
The US team avenged its 1-0 defeat against Mexico in the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final.
