The Belgian national team defeated Finland, with two goals, today, Monday evening, in the matches of the last round of Group B of the European Nations Cup “Euro 2020”.
Romelu Lukaku scored the first goal for Belgium after 65 minutes of the match, but Felix Brych, the referee of the match, decided to cancel it due to an offside case, after referring to the video assistant referee technology.
Belgium scored the goal with friendly fire in the 74th minute after a cross headed by Thomas Vermaelen, hitting the post before falling in front of goalkeeper Lucas Hradecky, who touched it by hand to fall into his net.
Lukaku doubled the Belgian lead by scoring the second goal in the 81st minute after a pass from Kevin De Bruyne, to be received by the striker and manipulated the defense, shooting a powerful ball past Finland.
The Belgian team advanced to the round of 16 of the Euros with nine points, in front of Denmark in the group runner-up with three points, then Finland third and Russia fourth with the same balance and goal difference.
The Belgian national team will meet in the round of 16 with its Swiss counterpart – if Ukraine does not qualify for the next round – which ensured qualification as one of the best third-place owners in the groups, in light of its superiority over Ukraine and Finland so far.
While the Finnish team is waiting for the gifts of the other groups in its last hope of qualifying for the round of 16 among the teams with the best third place in the groups.
