The Croatian national team defeated Scotland, by three goals to one, this evening, Tuesday, in the matches of the last round of the group stage of the European Nations Cup “Euro 2020”.
Nikola Vlasic scored the first goal for Croatia after 17 minutes of the first half, after receiving a ball inside the penalty area to launch a ground shot into the left corner of the Scotland goal.
Scotland scored the equalizer in the 43rd minute of the match, after Andy Robertson’s cross was cleared by Domaguey Vida, to bounce back to Callum McGregor, who fired a ground-based shot into the far left corner of the goal.
And the Croatian team returned to advance again in the 61st minute of the match, after Luka Modric received a ball on the edge of the penalty area to shoot a wonderful shot that headed towards the upper right corner of the goal, announcing the team’s second goal.
Ivan Perisic doubled Croatias lead by scoring the third goal, after receiving a cross from Luka Modric on the nearby crossbar, turning it header in the farthest corner of the goal at the far bar in the 79th minute.
Croatias tally rose to the fourth point to snatch the group standings behind England with seven points, after the Three Lions outperformed the Czech Republic, who fell to third place, then Scotland with one point.
With these results, the teams of England and Croatia qualified for the round of 16 of Euro 2020 at the top and runners-up of the group, while the Czech team qualified among the best three groups.
And the Scotland team was eliminated from the competitions, to take with it the Finnish team, which was active in Group B and ranked third, whose hopes of qualifying for the round of 16 among the best thirds were dashed after Croatia and the Czech Republic outperformed him on points.
The Croatian team, the runner-up of Group E, which includes Sweden, Spain, Slovakia and Poland, is waiting to meet it in the round of 16, while the England team is waiting for the runner-up of Group F, which includes France, Germany, Portugal and Hungary.
