Awad said in statements to FilGoal.com today, Friday: “Ali Maher continues with the team and will lead the evening’s training session after the negative rest that the team obtained, which extended for three days, ended.”
He continued, “Everyone is in a state of sadness after the exit from the Egypt Cup competition, but we will work to compensate for this situation by continuing to compete for the golden square.”
He explained, “The board of directors will be present in training today to support and motivate the players, and there is a session after the training session, during which we will discuss with the technical staff the components of the next stage and focus on maintaining the continuity of the Egyptian in the golden square.”
He added, “Our confidence in Ali Maher is great to adjust the situation, and we will use the pause period to revive the players’ motives and motivate them to maintain our current position in the team’s standings.”
And a member of Al-Masry’s board of directors stressed, “The idea of Maher’s departure was not raised within the board, and the coach did not inform us of his desire to leave.”
Ali Maher has been with Al-Masry since last season and succeeded in obtaining sixth place in the table.
The 47-year-old coach’s contract with Al-Masry expires at the end of the current season.
Al-Masry is preparing to face Ceramica Cleopatra on June 16 in the 26th round of the Egyptian League.
Al-Masry is ranked third in the Premier League table with 40 points, after playing all 25 matches.
