Ramos’ contract with Real Madrid expired at the end of last season, and he did not reach an agreement with his club on the renewal.
Ancelotti spoke at a press conference held today, Wednesday, after signing his coaching contracts for the team to succeed Zinedine Zidane, saying: “I just arrived and I did not speak with Ramos. I could not imagine Real Madrid without Ancelotti, but it happened before and now we have to accept anything.”
Before he added, “The obvious thing is that Ramos is very important to us and the club and I don’t know any details yet, but we will talk together.”
On his return to coach Real Madrid in a second term, he said: “I thank Real Madrid very much, the president and the entire board of directors. I feel this is my home and I will do my best to repeat what we have done in the past.”
The Italian coach stressed, “I know what it means to coach Real Madrid, but I will do it with great pleasure and happiness and I will do my best. I am a coach for the best club in the world and the responsibility here is greater than anywhere else.”
He continued, “I promise everyone, as I promised them in the first period, to present a strong and beautiful ball. The rule here is that we always play amazingly because this is what the club’s history requires.”
And he added, “I am grateful for what Gareth Bale, Marcelo and Isco have given to Real Madrid, but the difference between everyone is the stadium. Everyone must train well and show me his desire to play here.”
He continued, “This team can compete for championships, as it reached the semi-finals of the Champions League last season and competed until the last moments for the Spanish League title.”
On Gareth Bale, he said: “He didn’t play much last season, but he scored a lot of goals, and if he has the motivation, he will have a great season.”
As for Cristiano Ronaldo, a player from Juventus and the former royal team, he said: “I have a lot of affection towards him, but I do not think it is appropriate to talk about a player in another club who is doing a good job.”
As for Zinedine Zidane, he said: “He is my friend and we will definitely talk together in the coming days.”
And about what he wants to achieve with Real Madrid, he said: “The goal of this club is always to win trophies, and I want to sing at the Santiago Bernabeu as I did in the past,” referring to his singing after Real Madrid won the 2014 Champions League.
Regarding Vinicius Junior and Karim Benzema, the Italian coach said: “Vinicius needs to score more goals, and Benzema should score 50 goals, not 30, because these are the players I own.”
“I am very happy with Benzemas training, he has improved recently and he has more responsibility in the team,” Ancelotti concluded.
