According to David Ornstein, a journalist who specializes in transfers news and coverage of Arsenal news at The Athletic, Aston Villa is close to ending the Buendia deal.
Ornstein explained that Buendia underwent a medical examination and agreed on personal terms of contract with the Aston Villa management.
Aston Villa will pay 30 million pounds, plus extras, to Norwich City for Buendias services.
An amount that would make Buendia the most expensive player Norwich City sold out, if the deal goes through.
Thus, Aston Villa has outperformed Arsenal in the race to sign Buendia.
The British newspaper “The Sun” indicated that Arsenal made an offer to Aston Villa to sign the Argentine player.
Buendia contributed to Norwich City’s return to the Premier League next season.
The Argentine winger scored 15 goals and assisted 17 in 39 matches in the First Division Championship.
Buendia, 24, moved to Norwich City in 2018 from Getafe for one and a half million pounds.
Getafe owns 20% of the resale of Buendia.
