FilGoal | News | Mujahid: We may play the new African club championships with the same teams this season

Ahmed Mujahid, head of the tripartite committee to manage the affairs of the Football Association, revealed how the Egyptian clubs will be selected to participate in the African championships next season.

Mujahid said on Ontime Sports: “African club championships start in the second or third week of September, and Egyptian clubs do not participate in the preliminary rounds.”

“We will address the Confederation of African Football to determine the participating clubs as numbers until the end of the league and to determine the participants,” he added.

He continued, “If Kaf rejects this proposal, we will deal with the status quo and study the situation well, and we may choose the participants from last season in the African club championships.”

He pointed out, “With the African Union addressing to resolve the position of the fourth team participating with Al-Ahly, Zamalek and Pyramids, and the trade-off between the contractors will be the fourth in the league and the pioneers of the army, the second in the cup, and the list here gives preference to the army.”

He explained, “When we sent the names of participating in the Confederation Cup, the Egypt Cup was not over, so the choice was made for the fourth-league contractors, but the CAF prefers the cup champion or runner-up over the fourth of the league.”

Regarding the season in Egypt, he concluded his statements: “The reserve league may be held next season, and we will continue to work with the five changes.”

This season, he participated in the African Champions League, Al-Ahly and Zamalek, and in the Confederation of Pyramids and the Arab Contractors.
