CNN Network in Turkey revealed yesterday, Wednesday, that Galatasaray coach Fatih Tarim wants Mustafa Muhammad in the Champions League qualifiers and will not allow him to participate in the Tokyo Olympics. (See details)
Abdel Aziz told On Time Sport Radio: “We have not received any official communications from Galatasaray regarding Mustafa Mohamed and his participation in the Olympics, or an exchange of conversation between coaches Shawky Gharib and Fateh Tarim.”
He added, “I have completed the recruitment procedures and booked the flight ticket for Mustafa, because he will return to Turkey after the end of the Olympic team camp and await his return again on July 4 or 5.”
And he continued, “Mustafa Muhammad very welcomes, happy and honored to participate in the Olympics, and we did not receive a rejection from the Turkish club, and I think that they will not go against the player’s desire, and every position has an article.”
And he concluded, “As for Mohamed Salah and Ahmed Hegazy, with the Liverpool and Etihad Jeddah clubs, everything will become clear before June 30.”
Egypt’s Olympic team is currently participating in a preparatory camp in Suez, which will include two matches against South Africa in preparation for the Tokyo Olympics.
Egypt is in Group C, along with Spain, Argentina and Australia.
The Tokyo Olympics will be held from July 22 to August 7.
On the other hand, Galatasaray will participate in the Champions League, starting from the second stage of the qualifiers, which will be played on July 20, in the first leg, and July 27, in the return leg.
The football competition in the Olympics is affiliated with the International Football Association “FIFA”, but it is not during the period of the international agenda set by FIFA for the groupings of teams, and the players in it are officially entitled to their country’s teams.
The strength of the Egyptian Olympic team also includes Omar Marmoush, the German striker from Wolfsburg, among the professionals outside Egypt, and certainly Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool star, who Shawky Gharib, the coach of the Olympic team, announced that he would summon him to the tournament earlier, within the trio over the age allowed to include them.
Egypt will meet South Africa tomorrow evening, Thursday, in a first friendly, among the two friendlies that the two teams will play.
Mostafa Mohamed plays on loan from Zamalek to Galatasaray until the end of this June. With the right of the Turkish club to include the 23-year-old completely from Zamalek for 4 million dollars.
