And The Athletic reported that Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp is considering signing McGinn this summer.
And the report indicated that Aston Villa may ask 50 million pounds in exchange for giving up the Scottish star, which makes it difficult for the deal to happen.
Klopp previously described the 26-year-old midfielder as a “super player”.
McGinn extended his contract with Aston Villa last December for 5 years, which makes his price high.
John McGinn participated this summer with the Scotland national team in the Euro 2020 tournament and was eliminated from the competition after losing 3-1 to Croatia in the third round of the group stage on Tuesday.
“We are very frustrated and disappointed with what we could have achieved,” McGinn told beIN Sports after the match.
“Croatia relied on its experience in such situations in the past, let’s not forget that they reached the World Cup final not long ago,” he added.
“It was a difficult match, and we could have taken advantage of some of the chances that we had, but Croatia deserved to win.”
He explained, “We lost Gilmore due to the Corona virus, and it was a large part of our preservation of possession, but we adapted to it and tried to make the task difficult for them, but in the end Modric, Kovacic and Brozovic proved that they are great players and they were better than us, unfortunately.”
He concluded his statements, “The Croatian national team presented three beautiful moments and they surpassed us. It is the beginning for us and I hope that we will participate in more major tournaments in the coming years.”
Scotland finished fourth in Group D after taking one point from three matches.
While England, Croatia and the Czech Republic qualified for the round of 16.
Scotland participated in the Euro for the first time since the 1998 edition, in which it also won one point, with a draw and two defeats.
