Gharib announced his instability on the big three, with the exception of Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool star.
Shawky Gharib said on MBC Egypt: “Mohamed Sobhi is my number 1 goalkeeper in the Olympic team, he played 5 matches in the African Championship and won the best award.”
He explained, “Sobhi participates mainly with Al-Ittihad of Alexandria in the league and his level is stable.”
Speaking about Mohamed El-Shennawy, he said: “My words are about the Olympic team, but if about the first Egyptian team, El-Shenawy is certainly the goalkeeper No. 1”.
And about the big three, Gharib revealed, “Mohamed Salah is the only player chosen from the big three. I work according to a plan and include some elements.”
And he continued, “My plan was to include Mohamed Salah and Mahmoud Trezeguet before his injury, and other stars.”
When asked about Mahmoud Abdel Razek Shikabala, he replied, “No, Shikabala was not among the players we added to choose from at that time.”
Ghareeb stressed, “The three senior players who will be added to the Egyptian national team are definitely a headache in my head.”
“I am studying the matter from all sides and how it affects the players who are excluded from the Olympic team,” he added.
He concluded his statements, “I am looking for the inclusion of elements that will add experiences to the team and affect the team’s performance positively in the tournament.”
