The final of the African Champions League will be held on July 17, the same date as the last entry of the Olympic team players to the medical bubble in the Tokyo Olympics, which may threaten Al-Ahly players with absence from the Olympics.
Alaa Abdel Aziz, the team manager, said in statements to On Sport Radio: “There is no room for addressing the International Federation for any exception regarding the delay in joining Al-Ahly players to the medical bubble. Corona’s procedures are very strict.”
And he added, “We are waiting for coordination between Al-Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane and Shawky Gharib, coach of the Olympic team.”
He stressed, “There is another proposal to demand Kef to advance the final date of the African Champions League by two days, especially since this proposal also benefits Kaizer Chiefs if it qualifies for the final because it includes among its ranks 5 players in the South African Olympic team.”
Al-Ahly won the first leg of the African Champions League semi-final against Tunisias Esperance 1-0 in Rades, while Kaizer Chiefs defeated Moroccos Wydad 1-0 in Casablanca.
