And the European Union published an official statement announcing the suspension of the punishment of the previous three clubs until further notice.
The text of the European Union statement read:
“Following the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against FC Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid for a possible breach of the UEFA legal framework in relation to the UEFA Super League, the UEFA Appeals Body decided to suspend disciplinary action until further notice.“.
Twelve European clubs had decided to hold the “European Super League”, before 9 clubs withdrew within 48 hours from the tournament.
Clubs: Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, Milan, Atletico Madrid and Inter withdrew from the European Super League, despite their announcement of joining it.
The withdrawal came after pressure from the fans of these clubs and their refusal to hold the tournament.
But Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus did not withdraw from the tournament and decided to continue it with a change in its organizational structure.
UEFA had earlier indicated that the three clubs would be punished for their actions.
Some press reports have speculated that Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus may be banned from playing in the Champions League with financial fines.
