Honduras will become Thursday the fourth country in the world to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to occupied Jerusalem, an embassy that Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez promised to inaugurate himself, based on a promise he made nearly a month ago.

Honduras, located in Central America between Guatemala, Nicaragua and El Salvador, had opened in 2019 a commercial office “attached” in the city to its diplomatic mission in Tel Aviv, according to what “Al Arabiya.net” read in El Heraldo newspaper, which provided its news about the embassy that Israel opened an office a year later. A similar business in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras, will be transformed this year into an embassy.

The Honduran president is scheduled to arrive in Israel today, Wednesday, accompanied by his wife and the foreign minister, “to sign important agreements in the fields of tourism, agriculture, education and electronic technology, in addition to the inauguration of the embassy, and then he will make two official visits to Spain and Germany,” according to the newspaper, quoting the Honduran ambassador to Israel, Mario Castillo, who is moving, will become the fourth country to move its embassy to it, after the United States, Guatemala and Kosovo.
