Ahmed Mujahid, head of the Football Association’s Triple Committee, confirmed that Imam Ashour’s penalty for the Zamalek player was a decision of the Disciplinary Committee, and it is not his job to intervene to mitigate or amend it, and who is entitled to do so is the Appeal Committee.
Mujahid said in statements to On Time Sports: “Reducing the penalty of Al-Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy was the decision of the Competitions Committee, and the regulations allowed me to take this decision to reduce the penalty and it has nothing to do with the team’s matches.”
He added: “Reducing the penalty of goalkeeper Mohamed El-Shennawy was by a decision of the Competitions Committee and the regulations, as happened with Hossam Hassan and Helmy Tolan, and the penalty of the Alexandrian Federation worker was raised.”
He explained, that the Competitions Committee has recommendations, but the decision is up to him as well, but the decision of the Disciplinary Committee cannot intervene to amend it.
He concluded his statements: “My statements regarding the public interest in Al-Shennawy’s punishment were cut and videos were sent to the International Federation with what I said, and there was no comment. Basically, the local suspension of Al-Shennawi does not affect the role with Al-Ahly in the Club World Cup.”
