Ambassador Nabila Makram Abdel Shaheed, Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, participated in the “Holy Steps” celebration to revive the path of the Holy Family in Egypt, under the patronage and presence of Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, at the Church of the Virgin Mary in Maadi.

The celebration was attended by Anba Daniel, Secretary of the Holy Synod, Anba Julius, Bishop of Ancient Egypt, Anba Ruwais, and Dr. Ghada Shalaby, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Deputy Governor of Cairo, and a number of parliamentarians and ambassadors.

In her speech, Ambassador Nabila Makram said that the feast of entering the Holy Family is full of messages of joy and condolences, noting that “our joy is great because God chose Egypt to be a safe haven for the Holy Family, and the second joy is the joy of blessing that took place through this visit from its north to its south.”

The Minister of Immigration added that the Holy Family, during its course in Egypt, boarded a small boat in the Nile, and this is another message not to worry about the immortal Nile River. As for the third joy, the people of Egypt welcomed the Holy Family, because the Egyptian people are believers, pointing out that this occasion comes as a mercy to us and a message From God to reassurance that God protects Egypt and its people.

The minister pointed out that these messages are what make Egypt win the battle of survival and construction, and today we celebrate one people, who together faced challenges and overcame them with the will of our Lord and the wisdom of the political leadership, and despite those challenges we face, but we return again to stand again and development is taking place on land of Egypt.

Ambassador Nabila Makram pointed out that the Egyptian people are well aware of the challenges facing their homeland, and made it clear that Egyptians abroad are ready to support the state in promoting the path of the Holy Family and wish to contribute to the development of that path, adding that the state’s efforts in light of a “dignified life” will greatly contribute to preparing Infrastructure and areas surrounding the path of the Holy Family to be eligible to receive visitors.

The celebration witnessed the screening of a documentary film entitled “The Holy Steps” about the Holy Family’s journey in Egypt, then the ceremony witnessed a musical performance by two Egyptian girls abroad, Ayoub Sisters. visited by the Holy Family.
