The Olympic team will face South Africa today in Suez


Egypt’s Olympic team, led by Shawky Gharib, will play its first friendly match against South Africa at the Suez Stadium, as part of the Pharaohs’ preparation program for the Tokyo Olympics 2021.

The technical staff of the Egyptian Olympic team is seeking to make the most of the friendly match today against the South African team, which also qualified for the Olympics, and the recent training of the Pharaohs in Suez witnessed a great focus on the part of the players to gain the confidence of the technical staff before announcing the final list of the Olympics on June 30.

Shawky Gharib held more than one session with the players, during which they watched the recent South African matches, and the coach explained the strengths and weaknesses of the opposing team and demanded his players to consider the match as official with the aim of achieving victory as well as reaching a technical state before the Olympics, as the current camp is the last before the Olympics.

It is expected that Shawky Gharib will give the opportunity in today’s match to some of the substitute players to judge them once and for all before announcing the list on June 30, provided that he will pay the striking force in the second friendly match next Sunday in Cairo.

It is expected that Shawky Gharib will pay in today’s match with a formation that includes Mohamed Sobhi in the goalkeeper, Mohamed Abdel Salam, Osama Jalal, Salah Mohsen, Nasser Maher, Ahmed Yasser Rayan, Akram Tawfiq, Karim Al Iraqi, Ahmed Ramadan “Beckham”, Imam Ashour and Hassan Ali.

The Egyptian Olympic team will open its campaign in the Tokyo Olympics, facing Spain on July 22, then meet Argentina on July 25, and conclude the first round match against Australia on the 28th of the same month.
