Zamalek beat Al-Jazira with a score of (85-83) in the first match of the semi-finals of the Men’s Super Basketball League.
The matches are held at the “Borg El Arab” hall in Alexandria, where the matches are played using the Best Of 5 system, meaning the winner of three matches qualifies for the final.
Zamalek needed to win two matches in order to reach the final, while Al-Jazira needed to win three matches to ensure qualification.
The second match between Zamalek and Al-Jazira is scheduled to take place next Thursday, before the third match will be held on Saturday, with the 14th and 16th of June as the date for the fourth and fifth matches if they are needed.
The Zamalek basketball team won the African Champions Clubs Championship, which was held recently in Rwanda under the auspices of the NBA.
The winner of the match between Zamalek and Al-Jazira in the Super Basketball League will meet the qualified team from the Alexandrian and Al-Ahly match in the final match.
It is noteworthy that Al-Ittihad of Alexandria holds the Super Basketball League title after winning last season’s edition at Al-Ahly’s expense.
