Arsenal legend Paul Merson has warned Liverpool’s first-team footballer, Mohamed Salah, from a new contender for the Premier League top scorer in the new season.
Mohamed Salah has been competing since his return to the English Premier League with Liverpool for the title of top scorer in the last 4 seasons.
Al-Masry International finished last season in second place in the Premier League’s top scorer with 22 goals, one goal behind the leader and Tottenham striker, Harry Kane.
Merson spoke about his point of view in his interview with the British “Sportkeeda” network, and said: “Mohamed Salah will be one of the leading players in the new season, as always.”
“It’s a bit strange because he’s a winger, but that proves what a great player he is.”
He added, “If I had to choose an unfamiliar player to compete for the top scorer, I would not find a better player than Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton).”
He continued: “He started last season in a great way, but Everton did not take advantage of it well in the second half of the season and play on his attacking capabilities.”
He continued: “Benitez will make him one of the important players in Everton because he is able to enter the penalty area and pose a threat to the opponents’ goal in cooperation with the team’s wings.”
He concluded: “Dominic will play every round with Everton and I think he has the chance to win the top scorer title Premier League If he regains the level he reached last season.”
