Mystery continues over Haaland’s fate during the current summer transfer period, amid reports of his desire to leave Borussia Dortmund.
Chelsea is one of the most prominent interested in contracting with the 20-year-old, with competition from Real Madrid and Manchester City for the deal.
The German newspaper “Bild” revealed a bold move by Roman Abramovich, the owner of Chelsea, to exclude all competitors to include Halland.
This comes by submitting an offer of 175 million euros, making the deal second in the most expensive in football history, behind Neymar’s move to Paris Saint-Germain with 222 million euros in 2017.
Chelseas problem is not to save that amount, but the club needs to bring in more revenue, to not get into trouble with the Financial Fair Play regulations.
The Blues are looking to create more balance in their budget, by giving up some players, including Tammy Abraham and Callum Hudson-Odoi, with about 60 million euros for them.
It is also possible to give up Moroccan Hakim Ziyech about 40 million euros, so that Chelsea can cover a large part of Haaland’s value.
Dortmund’s position is not clear at the moment regarding this offer, due to the loss of a big star like Jadon Sancho to Manchester United, but Chelseas offer seems very difficult to refuse.
