Japan announced that two Chinese military ships approached Saturday the disputed Senkaku Islands between the two countries, as well as Taiwan.
The Japanese Coast Guard said in a statement that the two ships of the Chinese Coast Guard entered the waters that Tokyo considers belonging to it, south of Minamikojima, one of the Senkaku Islands.
The statement indicated that the Japanese Coast Guard demanded the two Chinese ships to leave after they approached a Japanese fishing boat.
This is the first such incident off the disputed islands administered by Japan since June 26.
