Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over Manchester United in December 2018, succeeding Jose Mourinho.
“Ole and his crew have worked hard to lay the foundation for this team’s long-term success on the field,” said Ed Woodward, executive vice president of the game after the renovation.
“The results of this have become clear in the last two seasons and we hope to see this exciting team develop even more in the coming years.”
“What is gratifying is the way in which this progress is being achieved through a mixture of young talent and good deals who play Manchester United attacking football. We are more confident than ever that we are on the right path with Ole.”
For his part, the Norwegian coach appeared happy to renew his contract with his current team, indicating the great desire to achieve championships
“Everyone knows how I feel about this club,” Solskjaer said. “I’m delighted to renew my contract. It’s an exciting time for Manchester United as we’ve built a team with a good balance of young and experienced players who are hungry for success.”
“There is a great coaching team around me and we are ready to take the next step in our journey. Manchester United want to win the biggest trophies and that is what we all strive for. We have improved both on and off the pitch and that will continue in the coming seasons.”
“I can’t wait to get out in front of the fans at Old Trafford and start the new season.”
Manchester United had finished last season in second place behind Manchester City and also lost the European League final to Villarreal on penalties.
