A woman has filed a lawsuit against Britain’s Prince Andrew, accusing him of sexually assaulting her on three different occasions.
In addition, the plaintiff, Virginia Joffrey, said that businessman Jeffrey Epstein sexually abused her, so she filed a civil lawsuit yesterday, Monday, in the US District Court in Manhattan, in which she stated that the Duke of York, the second son of Queen Elizabeth, sexually assaulted and beat her nearly two decades ago when she was 17 years old.
“I hold Prince Andrew responsible for what he did to me,” Geoffrey, formerly Virginia Roberts, said in a statement.
She also added, “The owners of power and money are not immune from responsibility for their actions… I wish that other victims would see that it is possible not to live in silence and fear, and to restore life by disclosing and seeking justice.”
Spokesmen for Prince Andrew or his lawyer could not immediately be reached for comment outside official business hours. According to Reuters.
Joffrey doesn’t remember.
Prince Andrew had said in an interview with the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in 2019 that he did not remember meeting Joffrey, and categorically denied what she had mentioned of assaulting her.
And Prince Andrew, 61, is one of the most prominent figures associated with Epstein, who was indicted by federal prosecutors in Manhattan in July 2019 with charges of sexually exploiting dozens of women and girls.
It is noteworthy that Epstein committed suicide at the age of 66 in a Manhattan prison on August 10, 2019 while awaiting trial, and his name was registered in the sex offenders registry. Prosecutors later said the prince was not cooperating with their investigation.
