Egypt coach Hossam El-Badri expressed his hope that the British government would solve the problem of preventing the English Premier League from laying off international players to participate in the World Cup qualifiers next September.

And the League prevented some players from joining their national teams because they will travel to certain countries, from which those returning to England must undergo a 10-day quarantine.

Because Egypt is one of these countries, the association prevented Mohamed Salah and Mohamed Elneny from traveling to Egypt to participate against Angola in the first round of the second phase of the African qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup Qatar.

But the two stars of Liverpool and Arsenal, respectively, can participate with Egypt when they visit Gabon on September 5th.

Al-Badri said in his statements to Sky Sports: “This is not fair because it is the World Cup qualifiers. It will not be fair for some teams that cannot get all their players, like Egypt.”

“This is what we told the International Football Association (FIFA) when we asked it to talk to the British authorities and try to convince them. My message to the British government is that football is very important, especially in England, and they know that.”

He explained, “These qualifiers are very important, and therefore they can find a solution. They can guarantee us the participation of Salah and Elneny without the need for a quarantine, provided that they return directly to their teams.”

He continued, “I trust that a solution can be found. Salah and Elneny want to participate with us. I spoke with them and they told me that they wanted to solve the problem.”

Al-Badri concluded, “But unfortunately so far we do not have good news. I think that the use of swabs may solve the problem, it is not fair to lose the players.”

The Egyptian Football Association is trying to communicate with FIFA to solve the problem so that Salah and Elneny will participate against Angola.

FIFA appealed to the British government to resolve the crisis.

Egypt hosts Angola on Wednesday and then plays Gabon on September 5th.
