Ghazi Ghrairi, the general supervisor of the Tunisian club Sfaxien, confirmed that Ali Maaloul, the current Al-Ahly player, had previously promised officials of his former team to return and retire from his ranks.
Al-Gharairi indicated, in statements to the Sada Al-Balad channel, that Al-Ahly and Zamalek did not make any offers during the last period in order to contract with Firas Shawat, the team’s striker.
Al-Gharairi said: “Al-Ahly and Zamalek did not make official offers to contract with Firas Shawat.”
He continued, “We have no objection to negotiating to sell him if we receive official offers, as he is an international striker and his age is young.”
He added: “Ali Maaloul promised us before to return to Sfaxien and retire from its ranks.”
And he concluded: “But if Al-Ahly wanted to take advantage of him as an administrative cadre, he has the full right, and whether he continues or returns to us, he deserves that and his career is full of pride.”
