Britain’s OneWeb prepares to launch 36 communications satellites into orbit


The Russian space agency, Roscosmos, said it had received a periodic batch of 36 satellites from the British OneWeb communications system.

The agency stated that this group of space devices will be transferred to orbit by the carrier rocket Soyuz-2.1b, which will launch from the “Vostochny” spaceport in October.

“A few minutes ago, a new batch of 36 OneWeb satellites arrived at Ignativo Airport (Blagovchensk) by An-124-100,” the government agency added, in a tweet on Twitter. mentioned to “Vostochny” during Sunday, and is scheduled to be launched on October 14.

In June 2015, the contract was signed between Arianespace and OneWeb on the implementation of 21 launches of Soyuz missiles from the Baikonur and Vostochny airfields, and in September 2020, OneWeb announced that the number of contracted Soyuz launches had been reduced to 19 and were carried out Ten of them: four from “Baikonur”, five from “Vostochny” and one from “Kuru”, during which 322 satellites were transferred into orbit.
