Interestingly, Phone Repair Guru found that even if the replacement was an original iPhone screen but was installed by an unauthorized technician, the Face ID mechanism to unlock the phone would fail according to Digitartlends.

It should be noted that the screen itself does not have any Face ID technology, as the TrueDepth camera system powers it inside the phone case.

The suggestion is that it could be a software issue that Apple might fix via the iOS version, otherwise it seems like a deliberate move on the part of the iPhone maker to force people to use in-house technicians or authorized services for repairs, but if that’s the case, it should be clarified that Face ID won’t work if The screen was replaced by an unauthorized Apple repair service.
