This comes in accordance with the presidential initiative to care for the health of the mother and fetus, which began its work in the governorate in July 2020, in order to follow up on the “health of pregnant women” for early detection of diseases transmitted from the mother to the fetus and to provide free treatment and health care.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Mahrous, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in the New Valley, confirmed in an exclusive statement to “Al-Bawaba News” today, Saturday, that the work of the National Initiative for the Care of Mother and Fetal Health is continuing in all cities of the governorate, noting that medical teams have been trained to participate in the work of that initiative, which It provides services related to maternal and child health and raises awareness of the health problems facing pregnant mothers during and after pregnancy, through thirteen medical units and centers in all cities of the governorate.
Mahrous explained that the initiative is to detect HIV infection, B virus and syphilis, early detection of diseases transmitted from the mother to the fetus, providing all integrated analyzes and examinations, in addition to measuring pressure, sugar, weight and height, and providing means of care and full follow-up for pregnant women before, during and after childbirth.
Mahrous added that the initiative provides comprehensive health care for the pregnant mother, fetus and newborn during pregnancy and beyond, to discover risk factors for the mother and newborn and to provide the necessary medical care through basic care units and centers at the governorate level.
