Despite the fact that there is a state of stability within the corridors of the Football Association regarding the appointment of a foreign technical director, to succeed Hossam El-Badri in the training of the Egyptian national team, the possibility of appointing a local technical director remains on the table, albeit to a lesser extent.

FilGoal.com asked a source within the Football Association, what if it was decided to appoint a local technical director for the Egyptian national team, to reply: “In this case, two names will appear, they are Hossam Hassan and Ihab Jalal.”

And he added, “There is also a quasi-stability that Essam El-Hadary will be a goalkeeper coach in the team’s next team.”

He stressed, “Hossam Hassan may face difficulty in obtaining a job as the coach of the national team, in light of his tense relationship with the current administration of the Football Association, but he remains a candidate in the event of resorting to a local technical director, accompanied by Ihab Jalal.”

Hossam Hassan

The historical striker of Egyptian football, currently 55 years old, coaches the Alexandrian Al-Ittihad team.

Hossam Hassan has experience in coaching national teams, as he was close with the Jordan national team to reach the 2014 World Cup, but he lost to Uruguay in the play-off with a score of 5-0 on aggregate.

Hossam Hassan finished last season in the league in seventh place with 48 points.

Ihab Galal

The current coach of Ismaili is 54 years old, and has succeeded in lifting the Dervishes out of their crisis this season with 9 victories, 3 draws and 7 defeats in the league.

Jalal achieved clear successes in leading Egypt for clearing and Al-Masry, although he did not achieve the usual success in leading Zamalek.

The Football Association had announced its thanks to the technical staff of the Egyptian national team led by Hossam El-Badri, and the administrative staff of the Pharaohs as well.

A statement issued by the Football Association said: “The Egyptian Football Association decided, in its emergency meeting today, headed by Ahmed Mujahid, President of the Federation, to thank the technical and administrative staff of the first national team for the last period he spent in leading the team, wishing all its members success.”

And he concluded, “The Egyptian Football Association also decided to continue its session to announce the new technical and administrative staff during the next 48 hours.”

The Badri apparatus, which took charge after exiting the 2019 African Nations Cup at the hands of South Africa under the leadership of Javier Aguirre, includes Ahmed Ayoub, Tariq Mustafa and Sayed Moawad as coaches, Ayman Taher to train goalkeepers, Anis Al-Shaalali, load planner, and Mohamed Barakat as team manager.

Egypt qualified for the African Nations Cup from a group that included Togo, Kenya and Comoros, leading the group with 12 points, from 3 wins and 3 draws.

In the World Cup qualifiers, Egypt scored 4 points from a victory against Angola in Egypt, and a draw against Gabon outside the home.

Egypt will play two matches against Libya in the same qualifiers next October, before playing the penultimate and final rounds, against Angola abroad and Gabon in Egypt.

After those qualifiers, Egypt will participate in the Arab Cup, then the African Nations Cup, which the Pharaohs signed in a group that includes Nigeria, Sudan and Guinea Bissau.
