FilGoal | News | AS and Marca: Mendy injured again, out for 3 weeks

Real Madrid’s Ferland Mendy was injured again, leaving him out of action for another 3 weeks.

Spanish press sources revealed today, Friday, that Mendy suffers from muscle pain that will keep him away for a longer period.

And the Spanish newspapers AS and Marca reported that Mendy will be absent for 3 weeks, and therefore he is away from Real Madrid until the next international break.

While Arancha Rodriguez, a reporter for Cadena Cuban radio, reported that Mendy will be out for at least 10 days.

Thus, Mendy will not be available to coach Carlo Ancelotti against Valencia, Mallorca, Villarreal and Espanyol in the Spanish league, in addition to Moldovan Sheriff in the Champions League.

Mendy aims to recover by the Athletic Bilbao match at the Santiago Bernabeu on October 17, following the international break for teams.

Mendy did not play any minute with Real Madrid this season, as he suffered from infections in the calf muscle that required a long rest period.

But he returned to group training recently and entered the list for the Celta Vigo match in the last round of the league, before he was excluded at the last moment for renewed pain.

Mendy has not appeared with Real Madrid since the 0-2 defeat against Chelsea in the Champions League semi-final second leg last season, specifically on May 5, as he played 63 minutes before being substituted, and appeared not ready.

Mendy’s last appearance in the Spanish league dates back to April 10 in the El Clasico against Barcelona.

Mendy’s injury is added to the absence of Marcelo, who in turn has suffered repeated injuries since the beginning of the season.

Thus, Ancelotti’s options available in the left-back position are represented by the trio: Miguel Gutierrez, Nacho Fernandez and David Alaba, and the latter the Italian coach prefers to involve in the depth of the defense.
